Oh. Em. Gee.

I am so excited to share with you, if you already haven't heard ... which would be surprising because I'm pretty sure all of North America heard me scream yesterday afternoon, that I WON Rita's giveaway from Fitblogger.

I could not be happier right now! I was just thinking to myself the other day: how can I make this blog more impactful, more inspiring, more ME? How can I create a mission statement for the goals that I really want to attain with this? With out giving a lot of the details away, I had a mini-epiphany of why I'm here in the Fit Blog world. I really truly believe in this community. I really truly believe that each and every one of us have the opportunity to not only change our lives, but to inspire and cheer on others.

Which is why this giveaway came at a perfect time. I am already feverishly working on a new format (I'll be moving to wordpress!) and pinning down a new domain name. I am so thankful for all of your support and readership - so I hope you continue to follow me here until the switch - and afterwards at my new home!

I would appreciate any honest feedback or suggestions you might have to help my new site become fabulous..

What kind of things inspire YOU to read and subscribe to blogs?
What kind of things turn YOU away from blogs?

In other news, life is moving along splendidly. I'm .2lbs away from hitting my 50lbs loss mark! Whoot! I also got the chance to talk with my dad last night, who is seriously my hero. He just finished his 25th marathon at 56 years old, at 4hours and 32minutes. WOW. I told him about this blog, (something I've never shared with family/friends) the amount of weight I'd like to lose, and my goal to run a marathon before I'm 30.

Knowing me, my laziness, my never-following-through-on-anything attitude, I was worried he would laugh in my face at these seemingly insane goals. Do you know what he said?

You can do it.

For some reason, that was all I needed to hear.

Much Love,

  1. you CAN do it !!

that just gave me chills... :)

and CONGRATS !! that is an awesome win, especially if you were beginning the transition anyway! <3

  2. The most important thing to me when I read blogs is that the writer seems genuine. I read blogs on a variety of topics, including ones with really no topic at all (like mine). I think if you stay true to yourself, are honest and open, people enjoy reading. Loved the story about your Dad!

  3. I am so proud of you! And so happy you won the giveaway :) Almost to 50 pounds lost?? Man i've seriously go to catch up! And WE WILL do that half-marathon someday soon-ish!

    <3 <3 <3

  4. That's awesome, always nice to win something!

As far as reading blogs- I think learning from other people and hearing other people share their progress and even setbacks can be inspiring and uplifting, even comforting.

You can do it! That is so amazing on your 50 pound mark, what a milestone!

  5. The only thing that has turned me away from a blog in the past is a "whiny, I can't do it" attitude. I'm not talking about when we have bad days or bad weeks and when we look for support, that happens to everyone. But I've read blogs where it is post after post of negative comments. That doesn't inspire.

I think your blog is great, and your new one will continue to be!

  6. Congratulations Emily! You'll love Wordpress. I have always used it and from hearing other blogger issues, it seems Wordpress is the best choice out there. I really love reading blogs that showcase the bloggers food, fitness, recipes, and lives. Some of my favorite bloggers just moved to the recipe only format and I miss hearing about their lives. I like a good mix. I also enjoy reading about other people's struggles and how they overcame these challenges. It makes me feel like it's okay to struggle myself and helps me connect with their story. Good luck!

  7. Congrats!!!! I never know why I love a certain blog and hate others. I guess it's all about the writing and the person behind it. I love your blog and you will love wordpress!

  8. Congrats Emily! And welcome into the Wordpress family.. You'll enjoy blogging more after the switch!

  9. I'm envious! Hope you love it:) I read blogs because of the content or because of a connection I feel with the blogger. Personally, I don't like light print on a dark background (too hard to read) or a lot of clutter on the blog.

  10. I hadn`t read that yet, silly me!

Your dad is so awesome, I think that was the best thing I`ve read all day.

  11. Congrats on the win!! I'm so glad you're getting the support you need to help you on your healthy journey -- it's so much more rewarding when people have got your back!!
